Hon. F. Dreyfous

House of Representatives

Baton Rouge
Dear Sir:
I have followed your Police Bill with much interest as a step towards permanently rescuing our city from the domination of the hoodlum politicians.
I was much surprised to read the enclosed paragraph in the telegraphic column of the City Item. Is this correct? If it be then the Police Board is sure to fall into the hands of politicians. Why does the Constitution require the Police Commissioners to be elected any more than the members of the Board of Liquidation of the City Debt?
I trust you will not consider this an intrusion on your time, but I believe the future of the city depends on these matters and know the interest you have manifested in them. Any information you could conveniently give me----particularly a copy of the
bill in its present state---- would be duly appreciated.
Truly yours
Ashton Phelps
